hindsight
In retrospect, the nerdiness that my classmates disparaged and the lack of direction that my parents fretted about were the two main things that led me along the path I’ve taken, and knowing that gives me more than a small sense of vindication.

i like it that you’ve given yourself room to go and explore everything. i know it sounds cheesy but with you and viv, i see the virtues that made the ancient greeks as enduring and as relevant as they are today; a preference towards free inquiry, inductive reasoning, and a strong sense of personal audit. i firmly believe that you two are truly truly in the driver’s seat of your existence. not sure if this came from the two situations you cited, but a part of me believes that these values simply were in your DNA. strange, right? i’m sorry if i cheesed you out! i say these things with the utmost sincerity! =D
